Two Story Residence | Mountain View | Comprehensive Remodel & Addition

Architecture: Duxbury McIntosh Architects
Builder: Quiroz Construction
Interior: Client
Photography: Rio Costantini

Originally built in 1941, this project was a complete remodel and modernization of a quirky existing house. The floor plans were opened up to create a spacious modern kitchen, dining room, and family room. Windows and skylights were added through out to bring natural light into the previously dark interiors. The exterior and interior finishes were entirely replaced to provide for a clean modern aesthetic.

Sustainability and energy efficiency are integral aspects of the house's design. All the electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems were updated to provide for modern comfort and energy savings. Solar panels added on the south facing roof, provide clean energy to power the home. Added insulation and advanced climate control systems ensure comfort while reducing energy consumption. By minimizing its carbon footprint, conserving resources, and saving energy, This house is exemplary of the spirit of sustainability.
