DAWNRIDGE

Two Story Residence | Los Altos Hills | New Construction with Basement

Architecture: Duxbury McIntosh Architects
Builder: Komo Construction
Landscape: Thomas Klope
Interior: Client

The form of this modern family home embraces horizontal lines to create a dynamic and spacious living environment for a large family. The exterior features a low-pitched roof with broad eaves that extend outward, creating horizontal emphasis. Large windows are strategically placed to capture scenic views and maximize natural light. Horizontal clerestories emphasize the horizontal plane.

The entry leads an open and expansive interior. The design embraces an open-concept layout, with minimal partitions and a seamless flow between the living spaces, creating spaciousness, connectivity, and an abundance of natural light. The living areas are functional, comfortable, and visually calm and pleasing. The kitchen embodies functionality to facilitate meals for a large family, but is also at the heart of this home. The bedrooms upstairs incorporate large windows, and sliding glass doors at the primary suite, to offer views of the surrounding landscape, and bringing in abundant natural light.

The basement and landscape are designed for an active family, with all sorts of entertainment available. The indoor outdoor connection is enhanced by large multi panel pocket doors that disappear into the wall opening the family room to the covered patio and pool deck beyond.
