WESTRIDGE

One Story Residence | Portola Valley | New Construction with Basement

Architecture: Duxbury McIntosh Architects
Builder: RJ Dailey Construction
Landscape: Emory Rogers
Interior: Marian Wheeler / Marjorie Yam

Situated on a knoll in the rolling foothills, the house is sculptural extension of the site, reaching through the trees to capture natural light and views of the scenic surroundings. The design is dynamic, striking lines through the grove of Coast Live Oaks.  Modern and contextual, the angular forms are an affirmation of the mid-century roots of the neighborhood, and at the same time a bold departure from convention.

The spaces created by the sharp corners and exaggerated lines, interior and exterior, focus attention to place. Throughout the home, the experience of the exacting design is enveloping. Precise attention to detail is exhibited from the meticulous joinery of materials, to the exceptionally quiet mechanical systems, and inconspicuously convenient modern technological accoutrements.
